For some people, the idea of re-designing your home can be a little daunting: where do you start, how do you go about it, what do you need, and most importantly how much time do you have? I’ve been designing homes and interiors for people for 19 years and in that time, I have come to realise how lacking in confidence my clients were when faced with the sheer scale of how much was involved, from the different combinations of floor materials, wall textures, furniture shapes and fabrics, not to mention electrical specifications and pipe and plumbing runs. It can be confusing, but with the right help and guidance it doesn’t have to be.
My name is Melissa Drummond McLeod. Following a successful career in advertising as a Visual Artist and Art Director, I went on to re-train at the top Interior Design College KLC in London, before embarking on my new career.
Working alongside the architects at Anouska Hempel Design, I was fortunate enough to have worked on the interiors of The Pierre Apartments in New York and an apartment and garden design in Bebek, Istanbul amongst many others. I was also asked to design and build a room set at the prestigious House & Garden Fair at Olympia, London in 1998.
After two years working in the commercial sector on bars, restaurants, advertising agencies and design studios in London and following the launch of Dom Design in 1998, I am now truly established in the residential market working on properties in the Kent, Sussex, Surrey, London and Essex areas.
With my team of talented trades men and women, we cover all projects from 1 or 2 rooms through to comprehensive renovations, extensions and new builds. With our extensive knowledge of the procurement process, budgeting, planning, interior design, lighting and furniture and also design of bespoke and commission joinery, we aim to take the stress out of our clients’ projects and translate their ideas into beautiful yet practical homes.
A well organized and planned design can and will save you money and possibly your sanity. I feel it is incredibly important for there to be trust on both sides right from the start. That way, I can guide my clients confidently, comfortably and calmly through the design process; from the two-dimensional concept to the three-dimensional reality.
Our homes are our greatest asset, not just financially but also for our sense of well-being and happiness.
For me, creating a home where you and your family can feel safe and secure, calm and relaxed and very happy is an enormous and gratifying experience.
